Work environment

Work Environment:
This inventory will be used to staff positions that provide direct operational support to Investigations and the Units that conduct them. These positions are located in law enforcement environments which include regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers and will expose you to the many non-Police careers available within the RCMP.

Specialized units such as the Major Case Management Operation Service Centre (MCMOSC) provide support for the electronic management of information for major cases such as drug trafficking, homicides, financial fraud and organized crime across the province. Staff provide essential support with the maintenance and organization of these files. You will be instrumental in providing assistance to investigators and in the creation of electronic disclosure packages presented to Crown. You will need to be very detail oriented, task focused and able to multitask. These positions will expose you to all aspects of investigations and what goes on behind the scenes.

Other specialized support units such as the E Division Criminal Analysis Section (EDCAS), is a team responsible for the application of hiring standards, professional development, policy, analytical systems access, performance standards, and program direction to Crime Analysts, Criminal Intelligence Analysts, and Criminal Analysis Assistants within the BC RCMP.

Intent of the process

This inventory will be used to staff positions at RCMP E Division Headquarters at Green Timbers Way, Surrey, BC, as well as Kelowna, Prince George, Nanaimo, and Victoria. It may also be used to staff future vacancies throughout RCMP E Division in British Columbia.

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future permanent or temporary vacancies in similar or lower-level positions.

A qualified pool will be established and may be used for future permanent or temporary vacancies.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or
experience.

EXPERIENCE:
(EX1) Recent and significant experience* using word processing software.

(EX2) Recent and significant experience* using and maintaining a spreadsheet.

(EX3) Recent experience** in managing files in a Windows-based environment.

(EX4) Recent experience** operating and entering information into a database.

*Recent and significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the tasks on a continuous basis over approximately 6 months, within approximately the past 12 months.
**Recent experience** refers to experience obtained within approximately the past 12 months.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Enhanced Reliability status security clearance. Some positions may require Secret or Top Secret security clearance.

If a qualified candidate has been selected and appointed on an indeterminate basis from the established pool, they will be removed from the pool. If a candidate is selected for a specified period (including term, acting, or assignment/secondment) appointment, they will remain in the pool for future offers.

If a candidate accepts a term position, they will not be referred further to temporary (term) positions. They can remain in the pool for permanent positions.

This process and the resulting pool will only be used to staff positions in the RCMP.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

Education and Experience qualifications will be assessed through screening of your application. Assessment of the other essential and/or asset qualifications may be conducted through written exams, interviews, reference checks, etc.
