Duties
As part of Parks Canadas energetic Visitor Experience team in Kluane National Park and Reserve, Heritage Presenters deliver interpretive presentations, programs and activities to provide visitors to the park with opportunities to discover, appreciate, learn about and enjoy the place and its natural and/or cultural resources and understand their significance to Canada. Heritage Presenters work at various sites in the park, working both outdoors and in the Visitor Centres alone and as part of a multigenerational and diverse visitor experience team.

The Yukon Field Unit is one of the most diverse field units across the country.
Geographically dispersed over km across the Yukon, northern BC, and into Alaska,we offer a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors and staff. Our sites offer diverse and varied opportunities to explore Yukons beautiful landscapefrom the glorious SS Klondike National Historic Site in Whitehorse, to the fabled Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site, to Canadas largest ice field and extreme peaks in Kluane National Park and Reserve, extending to the colorful Klondike National Historic Sites in Dawson, to Vuntut National Park located above the Arctic Circle.

Intent of the process

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or Public Service Commission approved alternatives or acceptable combination of education, training, experience or traditional knowledge relevant to position.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience providing quality service delivery to the public through direct contact and communication.
Experience in delivering messages/information to groups in face-to-face situations with the purpose of education, engagement, entertainment and/or motivation.
Experience in performing cashier duties and handling all forms of payment.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of Parks Canada operations, outdoor recreation, and public safety issues as it relates to Kluane National Park and Reserve
Knowledge of cultural history and cooperative management of Kluane National Park and Reserve
Knowledge of point of sale and related computerized applications used to provide cashier services, prepare sales reports, compile statistics etc.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the incumbent to:
Work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays
Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the uniform policy, as per Parks Canada requirements.
Stand/walk for prolonged periods of time (for up to 9 hours a day and hiking up to 15km a day with
an elevation gain of m).
Work in varied weather conditions.
Work from various work locations both independently and in a team setting.
Maintain a valid remote first aid certificate.
Conditions of employment
Reliability Status security clearance
Possess and maintain a valid Yukon Class 5 drivers license
When position is located in an area classed as isolated and remote, a pre-employment medical examination of an individual and his/her dependants may be required)
