Duties
The Interpretation Officer/Coordinator plans, adapts, develops, and delivers interpretive presentations, programs, and activities to provide visitors of the national historic site with opportunities to discover, appreciate, learn about, and enjoy the place and its natural and cultural resources and understand their significance to Canada.
Directly supervising 3 to 6 frontline team members who work directly with the public, the Interpretation Officer/Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a training program to ensure team members have the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their roles.
Responsible for performance monitoring of their team members, the Interpretation Officer/Coordinator tracks and assesses individual and team performance, providing constructive feedback and recognition. They must be able to address conflicts or issues within the team, acting as a mediator when required and helping to find solutions to improve overall team dynamics.
Collaborating with team members to establish clear goals and objectives, the Interpretation Officer/Coordinator ensures alignment with agency and site objectives.
The Interpretation Officer/Coordinator is a leadership role that requires the demonstration of a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a commitment to the success of the team. The Interpretation Officer/Coordinator inspires and motivates team members, encouraging a positive and productive work environment. Graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution with a degree or diploma in a field relevant to the duties of the position, or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience
EXPERIENCE
Recent experience in supervision, including coaching and/or mentoring
Experience in providing leadership, feedback and performance evaluations when supervising employees
Recent experience in researching, developing, and delivering outreach, education and/or interpretive products, programs, tools and/or activities related to cultural or natural heritage
Experience in customer service
Experience in scheduling, recruitment, and delivering training
