Director, Housing and Social Services.Reporting to the Commissioner, Community Services, the Director provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the core set of regional Housing, Homelessness, Social Assistance, Early Years and Community Policy programs for the both the City of Kingston and the County of Frontenac. You will be responsible for all strategic planning, budget development, work planning, human resources, staff development, and change management related to the broader Housing and Social Services programming in the Kingston and Frontenac communities. You will provide expert and guidance to senior management, Council, and other City departments on policies, programs, and services provided within the department and ensure alignment to Kington’s corporate strategic priorities.
As an ideal candidate, you have a degree in relevant discipline (Social Sciences, Business or Public Administration, etc.) combined with at least seven years’ senior management experience in human services including managing a large staff, strategic planning, budgeting, and implementation of plans and policies.
You are a collaborative and persuasive communicator skilled at influencing and building trust and credibility in a politically sensitive role with competing demands and priorities. The City will benefit from your excellent leadership skills and ability to promote effective teamwork while coaching, mentoring, and developing employees in a dynamic and complex unionized environment. Proficiency in both of Canada’s official languages is an asset.
