The Provincial Approving Officer (PAO) is a Statutory Decision Maker appointed under the Land Title Act, with delegated authority under other legislation, including the Transportation Act. This position works independently within quasi-judicial authority to review, analyze, and make decisions on applications to subdivide land in rural areas and with partial jurisdiction in municipal areas.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Land Law, Community Planning, Land Use Planning, Civil Engineering, or other related field and three (3) years or related experience; OR
Technical Diploma from BCIT or equivalent institution in Geography, Land Law, Community Planning, Land Use Planning, Civil Engineering, or other related field and five (5) years of related experience; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
 
Preference may be given to candidates with the following experience:
Experience in the field of development approvals.
Experience reviewing legal documentation and applications.
Experience developing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships, inside and outside government.
Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
