Job Description

The position we are looking to fill is that of an Onsite Machining Assistant. Specifically, we are looking for individuals to work with us on the Fall 2020 turnaround at Nutrien Redwater Nitrogen Operations. This is a fertilizer plant that is located approximately 20 minutes north of Fort Saskatchewan off of Highway 643. This project is scheduled for 5 weeks and should you accept this position you would be expected to work until the project is complete. Individuals who excel here would be automatically considered for future projects.

As a Machinists Assistant, you would be required to help the Journeyman Machinist you are working alongside with anything he may need. This includes helping him move equipment to the job site, lifting machines into place, running airlines or electrical cords, filling out safety documents, completing job site hazard assessments, cleaning shavings, retrieving tools and post job site cleanup.


  • Must have previous experience working shutdowns on industrial or plant sites
  • Familiarity with machine tools and equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and must be able to listen to instructions carefully
  • The ability to work safely and as a member of a team
  • Safety Training; CSTS is mandatory. H2S Alive, First Aid, Fall Arrest, Confined Space, WHMIS, etc. are an added benefit.
