OFFICE ASSISTANT – FINANCE
Temporary Part Time Position
(Minimum 1 year)
The Finance Department at the District of Saanich is seeking an experienced Office Assistant who will provide administrative support primarily within the Purchasing Section. The work involves organizing systems and procedures, coordinating the flow of information and documents and preparing correspondence, forms, bid documents, and contracts. The Office Assistant also responds to routine counter, telephone, electronic or written enquiries from the public, legal firms, contractors, financial institutions and provides vacation relief Senior Office Assistant- Purchasing.
Requirements include: completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, plus one year of post-secondary office administration courses; two years of office experience performing responsible secretarial or administrative work involving contract or similar legal work, including experience dealing with the public and/or clients; advanced word processing skills; experience with graphic applications and desktop publishing capabilities preferred; keyboarding speed of 60 wpm and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License. Applicants must provide proof of typing speed from a recognized educational institution or hiring agency. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will tentatively work Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with the ability to work up to full time (Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 a.m.)
