 CMC Microsystems is seeking a Microelectronics Technical Support to work out of INO (The National Optics Institute)
(Full-time position working out of Sainte-Foy, Québec City)

Responsible for supporting CMC’s collaboration with INO, the incumbent will be responsible for integrated system designs with custom electronics embedded in photonics, as well as INO’s optics/photonics offerings. There will be opportunities to work on writing/developing project proposals that leverage resources and skills available at both CMC and INO. The successful candidate possesses a solid understanding of optoelectronic and microelectronics technologies. They will bring innovation and enthusiasm to the task with excellent communication (written, verbal, presentation) and interpersonal skills, possessing the initiative to work with minimal supervision. General Requirements
•    Communicate with clients, CMC and INO on layout and technology‐related matters, paying particular attention to client problems and opportunities (in areas of analog design with a good handle on noise mitigation, physical design and verification, and fabrication technology needs)
•    Support the implementation and operation of MPW fabrication service infrastructure and the related design submission environment as opportunity permits
•    Write scripts for the Linux environment (knowledge of other languages considered an asset) and other tool‐specific scripts to support PDK (Process Design Kit) installation and improve operational and user productivity.
•    Liaise directly with researchers and students on design rule check (DRC) results with advice on fixes. Assess and process designer special requests
•    Use state of the art CAD tools and back‐end verification software to perform manufacturability assessment of integrated circuit designs
•    Continuously align design signoff processes with foundry requirements and communicate these requirements to researchers
•    Prepare designs and associated documentation for manufacturing. Interface with clients and suppliers for special request handling and problem resolution
•    Contribute in general to CMC's programs, and provide design quality feedback that will assist other CMC and INO clients. 

Additional Skill Requirements
•    Proven skills using sophisticated CAD tools with an ability to work in a Linux-based operating environment
•    Prior front-end digital design experience will be an asset
•    Prior experience working with CMC by means of submitting designs for fabrication is preferable
•    Excellent interpersonal skills, team worker with good communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written in English), proficiency in French an asset.
•    Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities, result oriented, proactive and dynamic
•    Creative, curious and wish to develop new skills, you stand out for your autonomy and resourcefulness

Educational Requirements
•    A BASc/BEng in Physics, Electrical or Computer Engineering or Engineering Physics with 3+ years of relevant industry experience or an MSc or equivalent with experience in microelectronics design flows and CAD tools and knowledge of Optoelectronics.
