Overview
Our client is a rapidly growing company that seeks a Financial Controller to support and lead the organization into its next growth phase.
The ideal candidate is a senior financial leader with a CA, CMA or CGA designation (and an undergraduate degree in finance, management or business) bringing a depth of experience (at least ten years of progressively more responsible financial leadership) in a private sector organization.
The Controller will have highly developed creative communication and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
• Supporting effective business decision making that includes sound financial analysis
• Ensuring the appropriate controls are established to safeguard company assets and economic welfare
• Accounts Payable/Receivable preferably in a B to C environment
• Management of 2 – 3 junior finance team members
• Administration of company payroll and expenses payments
• Oversee bank account and credit card reconciliations
• Produce management reports on request
• Liaison( key contact) with local bank branch
• Importing statements and other financial information into various corporate databases and systems
• Liaise with auditors as required
• Full cycle accounting up to and including Financial Statements
• HST and other government reconciliations and remittances
• Fostering positive and productive working relationships with high profile partners
• Planning short-term and long-term goals for the company and ensuring quality delivery;
• Identifying opportunities and propose methods of improving existing operations in alignment with the company’s goals;
• Managing the company’s investment portfolio to maximize returns
• Review and edit agreements,
and have a good understanding of contracts, and agreements
• Be able to write comprehensive and marketable business plans
• Must be able to come up with “outside of the box” solutions to complex business problems in a fast paced environment
Requirements
• Must be highly proficient with Excel, for analyzing, building models and formatting
• Must be able to attend meetings and sit in for the Executive at times and run high level finance meetings
• Post-secondary degree. Business Management training through education or equivalent employment experience is preferred; CA, CMA, or CGA in good standing
• Minimum ten (10)years of experience in a senior accounting role;
• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills;
