General Information
The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for casual Utility Worker I opportunities at the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre within the Facilities & Transit Division. Reporting to the Manager – Facility Operations (South Cowichan), the Utility Worker I (SLCC) performs maintenance and repairs of the facilities, grounds and equipment to ensure that Shawnigan Lake Community Centre facilities operate efficiently and effectively. Working independently this position also: performs cleaning routines, provides set‑up and take‑down for functions; advises the Utility Worker II if supplies and parts inventories need replenishing; may assist with complex projects; and, may work with specialized contractors.

Hours of Work
This is a casual, on-call opportunity with no guaranteed hours of work. Shifts are based on the operational needs of the facility. The successful candidate must be able to work a variety of hours and shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and short-notice shifts.
Salary
This casual opportunity is unionized (CUPE Local 358) and is compensated at $27.97 per hour (2023 rate) plus an additional 14.5% in lieu of benefits, vacation and statutory holidays.
