POSITION OVERVIEW The Nanny will work collaboratively with a team of two other nannies to support a family with four school-aged children, who are supported by a sta of roughly ten employees. This role will support the Family while residing at their primary home in Toronto, CA, and travel domestically and internationally. Ideal candidates will have formal educational development training, a passion for working with children of all ages, and experience being a part of a collaborative nanny team. This position will augment the Family's nurturing, care, and companionship; in their absence, they will supervise the children's daily activities. This role will interface directly with the Family and serve as the gatekeeper for all child-related things. This position will report to the Estate Manager. The position requires a healthy level of confidentiality, collaboration, critical thinking, and flexibility, with the essential quality being an authentic passion and love for children. The Nanny must strive to create a fun, safe, and supportive environment for the home and a nurturing and trusting relationship with the children, parents, and support team. The candidate will be able to move about the residence seamlessly and genuinely enjoy engaging in active and age-appropriate play. The ideal candidate will intuitively assess family dynamics, possess a no task is too big or small mentality, and assist with various household duties as needed. A warm, calm, outgoing, aectionate temperament is required. The candidate will demonstrate a willingness to listen and learn and put the needs of the children and the Family first. The successful candidate will possess an unwavering commitment to protecting the Family's privacy and confidentiality. The Family is seeking a long-term placement. This position is live-out, full-time, and involves domestic and international travel. Candidates must be available to work evenings (including sleepovers), weekends, and holidays as needed. Responsibilities will include child supervision, educational support, and daily care by preparing meals, organizing wardrobes, doing children's laundry,andcaringforchildren'sareas. Travelisrequiredregularlyworldwide,so a valid and updated passport is a must, as well as a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Communication Provide daily updates and progress reports to parents and Estate Manager. Address concerns and issues promptly through proactive communications with parents, seeking solutions, and taking appropriate actions. Collaborate with parents to develop eective childcare strategies through exchanging ideas, sharing insights, and working together. Cultural & Social Development Expose children to diversity and inclusion, teach acceptance, and provide opportunities for them to learn about and appreciate people from various backgrounds and cultures. Organize playdates and social activities, encouraging the children to interact and develop friendships, creating opportunities for socialization. Teach manners and social etiquette to the children, teaching them to be polite, respectful, and considerate by modeling good behavior and providing guidance. Promote independence and responsibility, encouraging the children to take on age-appropriate tasks. Educational Support and Development Provide guidance and support to ensure the children stay on track academically, assisting when needed and ensuring homework is completed on time and handed in. Emotional Well-being, Discipline & Supporting Special Needs Handle tantrums calmly, providing low-stimulation environments and redirecting attention whenever possible to avoid sensory overload. Guide the children through conflicts and challenges, teaching them how to communicate eectively, find solutions, and resolve issues peacefully. Understand individual needs, abilities, and challenges, and provide the necessary care and assistance tailored to each child's unique circumstances. Essential Care, Encouraging Healthy Eating Habits, and Supervision Help develop and ensure the children maintain strong personal hygiene habits. Manage consistent routines that promote healthy sleep habits, ensuring the children get the rest they need. Work with the chef to encourage healthy eating habits and promote healthy snacking options. Household Management, Transportation & Errands Cleaning and tidying the children's bedrooms, playrooms, bathrooms, and other areas. Assist with household chores and errands, including laundering clothes, washing dishes, vacuuming/dusting, unloading/loading dishwasher, etc. Care for pets that live in the house by walking, feeding, and bathing as needed. Ensure all things child-related are prepared for travel, including advancing supplies and packing. Maintain inventory and tracking of all items related to childcare. Help to maintain child-focused organizational projects (e.g., child's bedroom, playroom, closets, rotating clothes seasonally, preparing items for donation, child-related supplies, etc.) Assist in preparations for special occasions, such as birthday parties. Take responsibility for petty cash, make sound judgments when purchasing items, obtain a receipt, and provide a detailed list of weekly expenses. Take the children to/from school, sports, play dates, and other outings and appointments as required, or arrange these in the family home. Health and Safety Responsibilities Caring for the children when they are unwell. Under direct supervision from the Parents, be able to administer medication as needed. Managing Screen Time and Technology Work with the parents to set appropriate screen time limits. Teach digital citizenship, online safety, internet etiquette, privacy protection, and the importance of responsible online behavior so they can navigate the online world responsibly. Encourage oine interaction and hobbies that promote socialization and creativity. Outdoor Activities and Exercise Encourage physical activity by engaging in physical play and exercise. Encourage the children to explore nature and the outdoors. Organize recreational outings and field trips to provide enriching experiences for the children. Encourage safety during outdoor activities. Responsible for all equipment related to the children, including cleaning and maintaining items such as sports equipment. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience Previous childcare experience with a private family (at least five years) in a similar position is required. Demonstrate unwavering integrity and discretion in handling confidential information. Experience with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games, stimulating projects and crafts, scheduled outings, etc.) Possess exceptional organizational & problem-solving skills, dedication to responsibilities, and an above and beyond attitude. Physically agile; able to keep up with a young child. Must be a strong swimmer who is very comfortable supervising and playing with children in the water. The ability to ski, skate, play tennis, and participate in water sports would be considered an asset. Be comfortable communicating with the Family in real-time (e.g., by text or phone). Possess a strong command of the English language and be computer savvy with proficiency in Mac. A valid Canadian Passport or Green Card is required; willing and able to travel domestically and internationally to support the Family, both with short- and long-term travel and last-minute travel. Standard vaccinations are required. Formal training in child development education is preferred. CPF & First Aid certified. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Work location: This live-o position is based in Toronto, CA, with frequent travel as needed. Summer months to be spent in Muskoka, for varying degrees of time.
