Position profile – Saskatchewan Health Authority – Saskatoon and University Saskatchewan, Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery seek Transplant Surgeon to join their team. Collective responsibilities include clinical care of inpatients and outpatients as well as education of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. The successful candidate will have appointments in both Saskatchewan Health Authority and the University of Saskatchewan, where teaching of surgical residents and medical students is integral. Participation in the acute care general surgery roster including call is required. Participation in the trauma service will be of consideration.
The candidate will have demonstrated expertise in General Surgery as well as successfully attained fellowship training in abdominal transplant. One must be proficient in abdominal organ procurement including abdominal multi-organ deceased donor organ procurement and living donor laparoscopic nephrectomy. One must also be proficient and compentent with kidney transplantation and surgical management of kidney transplant patients. The candidate will have an active interest in research, demonstrated by completion of a post-graduate degree and interest in further developing the research activities of the division and the department. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interdisciplinary competence as demonstrated by active participation in multidisciplinary rounds.

Qualifications/Requirements of the position – The successful candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Surgery of Canada (RCPSC) and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS).
