We are also one of the largest buyers of fruit globally each year and continue to enjoy strong growth in this emerging category in retail.The opportunityWe are seeking a skilled Senior Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will, under the guidance of the Paymaster, process payroll and administer employee benefits for our workforce across multiple locations across Canada and the United States. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical and technological skills, bilingualism, and a comprehensive knowledge of payroll and benefits administration.The rolePayroll Administration: Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing of bi-weekly payroll for Canadian and US employees, in compliance with provincial/state, and federal regulations.Calculate and pay bonuses, premiums, retroactive pay for employees as required.Process employees’ terminations by calculating and issuing termination pay and processing records of employment.Process garnishment orders, requirements to pay, child support orders according to the applicable laws.Collaborate with finance and HR teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll data.Respond to ROE queries.Benefits Administration:Administer the benefits plans for each division by communicating benefits information to employees, enrolling, and terminating employees in the benefit system.Respond to inquiries from benefits providers.Compliance and Reporting:Ensure that the organizational payroll processes, practices, and decisions comply with standards for all jurisdictions.Prepare and file tax returns, reports, and other documentation accurately and on time.Support with payroll journal entries.Assist with internal audits to ensure the integrity of the payroll and benefits data, deductions and remittances, taxable benefits, time & hours tracking, time off balances and vacation pay accruals, etc.Assist with preparation of documents and reports for external auditors as required.Maintain updated employees’ payroll profiles (pay rates, cost centers, classifications, pay classes, etc.).classes, etc.).Employee, and HR Support: Provide support and guidance to internal HR teams, and employees on payroll and benefits-related matters.Provide supervisor training for system processes on Vacation, PTO, and Timecard approvals.Conduct employee orientations and training sessions on payroll and benefits programs as required.Address employee inquiries and concerns regarding payroll, benefits, and related policies in a timely and professional manner.What you will bringSupervisory Responsibilities:None.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Accounting, Finance5 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration, preferably in a multinational company or manufacturing environment.Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency in payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Ceridian, UKG) and MS Office Suite (Excel intermediate).Bilingual: French and English to serve internal and external clientsStrong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and benefits group plan administration (Canada and USA).Knowledge and Skills:Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Must maintain confidentialityEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels.Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement.Certification in payroll administration (e.g., PCP) or equivalent experience is a plus.
