Registered Veterinary Technologist, RVT
Department: Internal Medicine
Location: Lake Country, BC
Tri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre has a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT) with a focused interest in advance medicine cases. We have recently recruited a new Medicine Resident and are looking to reinstate our Internal Medicine service later this year. The successful candidate would join our new doctor and a dedicated Tech Assistant to form the IM team and would support primarily this department on a FT basis.
Additional support to pursue a relevant specialty certification (VTS) would be provided and encouraged.
MUST have completed a Veterinary Technologist or Animal Health Technologist program (recommended to have at least two years of recent active service as an RVT)
Prior experience with Internal Medicine not required but, will be considered an asset
Technical skills or knowledge of physical examinations, patient assessment (incl pain), catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, radiology, venipuncture, and pharmacy
Willingness to develop advanced skills relating to CRIs, blood transfusions, and assisting with ultrasounds and endoscopy procedures
Ability to keep detailed and accurate patient records
Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients and their pet parents
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Ability to problem-solve and the ability to ask clarifying questions to help you find solutions
Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues and our clients
Passion to learn more within the role and continually develop as a Veterinary Professional!
Compensation: $ to $ per hour, variable based on experience.
Anticipated Schedule: Internal Medicine features 4 x 10-hour shifts; currently Monday to Thursday.

About Us
Located in Lake Country, VCA Canada’s Tri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre is a growing hybrid and urgent care practice situated in the heart of the beautiful Okanagan Valley, serving the Interior of British Columbia for over 35 years. The hospital houses a bustling general practice, featuring a healthy case load of exotic patients. We host an expanding specialty department, including: Rehabilitation & Pain Management, Dermatology, Behaviour, an incoming Internal Medicine service (September 2024), and a remote Nutrition offering. We are also actively recruiting for a Surgery service. Early this year, we launched overnight services Thursday-Sunday and we are further committed to expanding our ER department to 7 nights a week.
The hospital is a 16,500 sq ft purpose-built facility with eight exam rooms, spacious treatment floor, well-equipped in-house lab, four ORs, separate GP dental suite, Philips Affiniti 70 Ultrasound unit, Aquilion 64-slice CT scanner, and Sound SmartDR+CsI with hands-free capabilities.
