The FM-PRO Planning & Integration team focuses on planning projects prior to implementation to ensure that stakeholders have been consulted and informed, and that projects are in accordance with strategic initiatives. In this role the candidate will provide project management expertise to develop, project scope, budget and schedule for assigned capital renewal projects. Backgrounds in civil, electrical and mechanical building and equipment upgrades would be beneficial, especially in the healthcare industry.
JOB SUMMARY:
As an integral member of the UHN FM-PRO Planning & Integration team, the PROJECT MANAGER is responsible for planning capital renewal projects from initiation through to the start of detailed design under the direction of the Manager, Capital Renewal – Planning & Integration.
The principal responsibilities include:
Acquiring and leveraging deep knowledge of the hospital’s infrastructure to effectively plan and coordinate delivery of multiple small and large scale infrastructure renewal project plans to the Project Implementation team.
Developing capital renewal plans for assigned projects: justifies proposed capital projects; risk and sensitivity analysis; establishes functional requirements in consultation with various stakeholders and consultants; identifies success measurement standards; identifies technical resources and seeks assistance or information and input as needed; coordinates administrative activities to facilitate project funding; develops project scope, schedule and budget.
Developing requirements for consultant tenders and contracts; evaluate and recommend selection of consultants; direct and manage consultants performing feasibility studies and design development for assigned projects.
Coordinating activities and fostering relationships within the Planning & Integration team, and with other FM-PRO divisions, internal UHN partners, clinical programs, and external consultants;
Communicating effectively: detailed and tactful in managing stakeholder expectations with experience leading the development of conceptual ideas.
Performing other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned or requested to contribute to the efficient functioning of the Capital Renewal Planning portfolio.
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
Completion of an undergraduate degree program in engineering, or recognized equivalent
Minimum of five (5) years of practical and related experience in the consulting and/or construction industry is required
Project Management Professional (PMP) designation an asset
Membership and registration with a relevant professional organization and designation (C.E.T., P.Eng., E.I.T., etc) is considered a strong asset
Experience with mechanical, electrical or building envelope infrastructure design or construction, ideally in an institutional or public sector environment
Demonstrated knowledge of building technical codes and standards applicable to acute health care environments
Demonstrated ability to read construction contract documents including drawings and specifications
Experience with administration of ACEC and OAA contracts and supplementary contract documents
Experience operating in an open public tendering environment and Knowledge of Broader Public Sector Procurement Directives and Supply Chain Guidelines is a definite asset
Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills required.
Excellent problem recognition and resolution skills required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail required.
Excellent analytical skills required.
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office applications required.
