General Pipeline: Technical Directors
Our technical directors oversee the technical aspects of a production to ensure it runs smoothly and meets artistic and technical standards. They manage large teams of stage technicians, manage budgets, do strategic planning, manage external resources, and much more! We are looking for people with talent in communication and effective collaboration. These individuals combine technical expertise and creative problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and contribute to production success.
Our team sizes vary depending on the complexity of the production and promote a growth structure throughout the company, containing technician and management positions where one can pursue a lifelong career in live entertainment. Join one of the five divisions of the Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group:
- Touring Show Division (TSD) - international marquee and arena touring shows - You must be available and authorized to work internationally full-time (365 days).
- Residency Show Division (RSD) - residency shows in Las Vegas and Orlando
- Affiliated Show Division (ASD) - Blue Man Group (BMG), VStar, Cirque Dreams and The Works Entertainment, with residency and arena touring options.
- Events & Experience (E&E) - sporadic events around the world
- Studio teams in Montreal and costume and production workshops in Montreal and Las Vegas
Main tasks:
- Manage all aspects of stage technical operations related to performance, artistic quality and compliance with show standards set by the Producer (sound, lighting, decor, rigging, automation, projection, etc.);
- Ensure that the venue is a safe environment to ensure optimal comfort for spectators and tour members and to ensure high artistic quality;
- Prepare and manage the budget of the technical department;
- Plan and manage the setup and teardown, installation and management of technical and artistic equipment as well as personnel management;
- Plan and coordinate equipment modifications and/or acquisitions, in collaboration with the Tour Equipment Department and the Senior Technical Director, Big Top Shows;
- Ensure that policies and procedures are followed, including those related to health and safety;
- Lead the hiring process for the technical department in collaboration with the IHQ (International Head Quarters) human resources/talent team and participate in the onboarding, training and development of team members ;
What we are looking for in candidates:
- College diploma (or equivalent) in live performance or theatrical production (or equivalent work experience);
- A relevant combination of academic training and professional experience will also be considered;
- Ten years of experience in technical management of show business;
- Solid experience in budget and personnel management;
- Five years of touring experience;
· Fluency in spoken and written English required, any other language an asset;
· Be prepared to live on tour 100% of the time and work abroad.
· Ability to relocate or travel 100% of the time, depending on the role;
· Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Other languages are an asset;
· Ability to provide appropriate work authorization;
· Be at least 18 years old.

Touring Shows Division (TSD)
· Salary fixed on candidate level of expertise and experience and based on regulated salary scales;
· Weekly touring allowance of a minimum US$200 and arena allowance if applicable;
