As a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist with VCH you will:
Specialize in acute and chronic disease management and pulmonary rehabilitation care from a physiotherapy perspective. Provide consultation and advice for health care providers in hospitals and the community on a national and international level. Review literature, analyse trends and recommend changes to modify/change current clinical practices. Provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment, and teach students and staff. Initiate and participate in research activities.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Current full registration with the College of Physiotherapists of British Columbia (CPTBC). Five (5) years' recent, related experience providing interventions related to complex respiratory and chronic disease management, and successful completion of Pulmonary Rehabilitation Certificate from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Driver's License and access to personal car may be required. Knowledge & Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to chronic lung disease and respiratory conditions. Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools. Broad knowledge of physiotherapy theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care. Broad knowledge of research process and methodology. Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care. Broad knowledge of the College of Physiotherapists of British Columbia standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners. Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation. Demonstrated ability to make public/professional presentations. Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader, motivator and facilitator. Demonstrated ability to teach both one-on-one and in groups. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, other health care staff, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups. General of knowledge Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care. Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety. Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others. Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others. Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and materials. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position. Documented involvement as a research investigator and/or published researcher. Demonstrated skill in the use of equipment, and in techniques appropriate to the treatment of clients with chronic lung disease and respiratory conditions. Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and database skills.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
