Your Opportunity:
The Grande Prairie Cancer Centre is one of 4 regional cancer centres in Alberta providing comprehensive cancer care services. The Pharmacy at the regional cancer center is an integral component to the facility. Core duties may include, but are not limited to: reviewing all medication orders for safety, efficacy and compliance with the criteria of the Outpatient Cancer Drug Benefit Program, dispensing medications and supervising technicians in the dispensing of medications and the preparation of sterile products, monitoring drug therapy for safety, efficacy and desired clinical outcomes; detecting and reporting adverse drug reactions; providing clinical pharmacy services to patients and drug information to other health care providers and assisting in therapeutic decision making for patient treatment; teaching health care providers and patients about drug use; representing the department on committees as assigned; participating in the education and training of new staff and students; and participating in multidisciplinary work groups, committees, special projects and programs as assigned. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of a recognized pharmacy residency program or equivalent hospital experience. Recent oncology pharmacy experience and/or multidisciplinary patient care team. Advanced prescribing authorization. Ability to use evidence-based medicine in direct patient care. Motivated and self-directed for ongoing continuing competence.
Preferred Qualifications:Active membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP) or Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology (CAPhO). Experience with Connect Care and Windows-based computer applications.
