The Ojibwe Language Teacher will provide Ojibwe language instruction and support the implementation of the York Region District School Board's First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education Strategy at northern YRDSB schools in coordination with the Regional Ojibwe Language Team, including the Ojibwe Language Coordinator. Length of Assignment: This is a three-year term position with an optional additional two years. Upon completion of this term assignment, the candidate will return to a position in a school through the transfer or regional surplus process as per the regional staffing timelines.Qualifications/Experience: Experience with conversational Ojibwe, experience teaching the language and fluency would be an asset; Applications from those that are not currently OCT qualified members will be considered; Information Technology skills are an asset; Land-based learning and Anishinaabek cultural knowledge are an asset. Experience with Indigenous pedagogy and educational interconnection is an asset. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively on a team; and First Nations background and/or experience teaching Indigenous children.
