Position Description
Pharmacy Services at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, permanent Manager, Outpatient and Research Pharmacy. Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy Services, the Manager is accountable for the operations of outpatient pharmacy in providing services to ambulatory care clinics, patient/clients, staff and community members, and supervising the Research Pharmacy operations in collaboration with Research Services. In addition to implementing strategic initiatives developed by the pharmacy management team, the Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day Outpatient Pharmacy functions, including but not limited to managing human resources, drug distribution activities, financial budgeting; and participating in various committee(s) and working group(s). The Manager will build relationships with the outpatient clinics and CAMH patients/clients so as to maintain a loyal customer base and will develop methods to enhance service delivery. The Manager will work with the clinical inpatient and outpatient programs to provide methods for enhancing seamless medication management care for patients/clients transition from hospital to community. Moreover, the Manager will collaborate with Research Services and principal investigators to set up investigational drug studies, develop preparation and distribution process, review standard of practice to comply with Health Canada requirements, enforce record documentation and retention policy and maintain environmental monitoring system(s) for medication storage. The Manager will ensure a safe working environment for staff, promote teamwork among staff, and foster a healthy work place that embraces diversity, equity and inclusion. Being registered as the ‘designated manager’ with Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP), the Manager is also responsible to ensure both the accredited pharmacy and pharmacy staff are operating in compliance with all standards of practice and regulatory requirements. This position will be located at the Queen Street sites.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have an entry to practice degree in pharmacy (BSc Phm or PharmD). Advanced training (e.g. hospital pharmacy residency) and/or an advanced degree in pharmacy (post-baccalaureate PharmD, or Master’s), business (M.B.A.) or health care is preferred. Current registration as a pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists is required (in Part A of the Register). A minimum of three years of experience in hospital outpatient pharmacy management is preferred. A demonstrated understanding of complex pharmacy environments (operational, clinical and administrative) is required along with the ability to utilize an array of conceptual, analytical, problem-solving and strategic skills. The successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy information systems and technologies and have a demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and the ability to use Kroll is preferred. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills in addition to excellent organizational and negotiating skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively within a dynamic team environment. The ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds is essential. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
