General Information

The Pediatric Endocrinologist reports to Clinical Professor and Head, Division of Endocrinology, and is a member of the Division of Endocrinology at BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH), working with a team of nine clinical faculty and one scientist, in addition to a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals. The Division is affiliated as faculty with The Department of Pediatrics at The University of British Columbia (UBC).

The Pediatric Endocrinologist will wholeheartedly participate in the Vision of the Division: Empowered patients, exemplary team, ever-evolving care, and excellence in education and research. The Division aims to maintain its status of academic excellence through ongoing clinical and pre-clinical/discovery research, and the education of future health care providers through a successful Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons accredited fellowship training program. Programs serve pediatric (<19) patients from across British Columbia, and include clinical programs for diabetes, endocrinology, and gender-affirming care.

Qualifications 

This position requires a Medical Doctor degree with current licensure or eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia; Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Pediatrics; and Fellowship training in Endocrinology (or equivalents). This position also requires eligibility for becoming a faculty member at UBC.

The successful candidate will also be committed to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per the Truth & Reconciliation Commission (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).

As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).
