The Technical Accounting & Reporting Manager is a key role within ApplyBoard’s Corporate Accounting team. In this role, you will be an integral part of the accounting cycle, providing support and guidance to the Global Finance team on technical accounting matters, overseeing IFRS and US GAAP policies, and driving various financial reporting initiatives including global revenue reporting. You will report to the Corporate Controller, and collaborate closely with senior leaders across the company. This role requires a candidate who can quickly become familiar with the ApplyBoard business model in all markets, be able to apply this knowledge to analyze specific accounting transactions, and work with external auditors to conclude on key audit matters. This is a hybrid role and requires occasional travel to ApplyBoard’s head office in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
What you’ll be doing everyday:
Research and monitor new and emerging accounting standards and reporting requirements; provide technical guidance and recommendations on the adoption and implementation of such standards/changes for both IFRS and US GAAP.
Lead technical accounting analyses and provide guidance on complex accounting and financial reporting matters as necessary. This may include transactions related to complex accounting transactions such as impairments, revenue, financial arrangements, equity incentive plans and investments.
Build and manage the financial reporting process, including the management of deadlines, and collecting and retaining documentation to support audit requirements.
Ensure timely, complete and accurate financial disclosures.
Liaise with external auditors during quarterly interim reviews and year-end audit
Oversee and maintain appropriate documentation and identification of the Company's SOX key processes and controls in the respective area
What you bring to the table:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and CPA required.
5+ years of progressive technical accounting and financial reporting experience - predominantly at large, multinational public companies
3+ years public accounting in Big 4 firm
Experience managing a public company reporting process
Experience with Workiva is an asset
Advanced proficiency in Excel, GoogleSheets, Word, PowerPoint
Proven ability to independently work through complex accounting transactions and collaborate with business leaders to advise them on key accounting considerations.
