We continue to remain at the forefront of the testing services industry, building an enviable reputation.Location: ALS Environmental, BurnabyReports to: Facilities ManagerPosition Type: Full-TimeClassification: SR2 (equivalent to LA4)About the Position: This position is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of team personnel and resources to maximize production, quality and efficiency of the facility/warehouse team.Specific Responsibilities:Day-to-day coordination of team personnel and resources to maximize production, quality and efficiency; Versed with day-to-day duties of all the facility, warehouse and inventory team personnel;Bring staff concerns to the attention of the Supervisor or Manager; Transfer samples to the appropriate storage or disposal areas in the facility;Maintain an up-to-date inventory of sample archiving and disposal areas using the LIMS system and other appropriate tools;Maintain up-to-date written procedures for sample flow and archiving;Organize and store paper records to ensure quick retrieval when required;Maintain a clean work area and perform basic building maintenance;Manage off-site warehouse space to maintain a clean and safe work environment;Assist with ongoing cleaning of sample coolers and garbage disposal;Assist with general facility and warehouse cleaning and maintenance as required;Assist with inventory monitoring and ordering of supplies;Ensure adequate supply of Acid Cleaned Bottles (ACB’s) and 4 L jugs of water for the shipping department;Coordinates the use of resources and facility areas used by the team section including:Continual assessment of needs;Ordering of supplies; Ensuring all equipment maintenance and calibration is properly conducted and documented;Addressing day-to-day technical issues related to production and operation;Notifying supervisor or technical support of any issues related to the facility, equipment and supplies;Coordination of the sharing of equipment, space, and materials with other teams;Ensures the quality of all work performed, including:Ensuring that all required record-keeping & documentation are carried out within the team;Ensuring all tasks and procedures are carried out as specified in the documented methods and/or procedures;Ensuring methodology requirements are met and documented;Providing input on current team procedures for writing and review;Leading of personnel, including:Bringing staff concerns to the attention of management;Providing feedback and assistance to the Supervisor/Manager on all aspects of team members’ performance for evaluations, rewards, and issue resolution;Identifying the training needs of team members and coordinating and/or performing said training;Promoting safety awareness and practices;Identifying the staffing needs of the team;Training of new staff;Other:Leading and suggesting positive change in the operations of the team and department;Playing an active role in promoting and clarifying company policies, procedure, etc.;Sets an example of professional behaviour for team members;Uses correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality; Observes established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned.Physical Demands:Ability to lift up to 50 lbs/23 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances; Extensive walking or movement, bending, and kneeling for a full shift; Ability to use lift assist equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks;Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required. You may be exposed to unpleasant odours.About You:The ideal candidate would have:Completion of high school diploma or equivalent (required);Previous experience in leading and training staff (asset);Previous experience working in a warehouse or fast-paced, environment (asset);Knowledge from high school science courses and/or basic laboratory safety (asset);Previous customer service experience (asset).
