JOB SUMMARY:
Working in an assisted living environment that supports and promotestenant wellness and independence, the Director of Care is responsible for ensuring highquality delivery of personal assistance and hospitality services designed to maintain independence and maximize the abilities of tenants at Millennium Towers. This includes planning, administering, and overseeing the daily operations of assisted living services (personal assistance, hospitality services, and social/recreational/volunteer services) for tenants, ongoing support and supervision of staff, volunteers and contracted services. In addition, the Director of Care ensures compliance with Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Assisted Living Regulation (RCR).
Furthermore, the roles provides general clinical oversight to two licensed staffed residential homes – one in North Vancouver and one in Coquitlam – funded by Community living BC (CLBC – a Crown Corporation). Scope includes supporting compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Residential Care Regulation (RCR).
DUTIES:
1. In consultation with the Regional Director, the Director of Care is responsible for the overall management of Saint Elizabeth Assisted Living Services at Millennium Towers.
2. Participates in the development of policies and procedures to support operations.
3. Administers and monitors the annual program budget.
4. Ensures high quality service delivery to tenants by:
5. Through effective coaching and performance management, ensures adequate staffing levels by:
6. Liaises with and works cooperatively with VCH staff, Columbus Charities Association (CCA), community service providers and other stakeholders to ensure effective, high-quality provision of services for tenants. Advocates on behalf of tenants’ needs; securing services as required.
7. Implementation of a continuous quality improvement process to ensure tenant, staff, volunteer and stakeholder satisfaction.
8. Ensures appropriate response to critical incidents, emergencies and urgent changes in tenants’ health status.
9. Develops and implements risk management strategies such as Disaster and Fire planning, thus allowing tenants, staff and volunteers the opportunity to practice emergency safety procedures.
10. Participate in the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
11. Flexibility to be on call afterhours and weekends, inclusive of Millennium Tower and support for 2 additional SE facilities in the Lower Mainland
12. Performs other related duties as required.
