Our client supplies custom corrugated packaging solutions to businesses in Canada and the US.
Currently we are looking for Designer and Processing Coordinator to join the team ASAP.
Shift: Day Shift, Permanent
Pay Rate: $38,000/Year (negotiable)
Working Location: Etobicoke, Hwy 427 and the Queensway
This position reports directly to the Sales Manager and works with the Customer Solutions Manager and Sales Team to meet customer needs. The Designer & Processing Coordinator is responsible for project coordination of customer projects from design to docket creation. This entails communicating with the Sales Representatives and Customers to understand the scope of the project, working with internal team and outside vendors to coordinate and proactively manage the project. It also entails operating the CAD Table, creating samples, specifications, coordinating or sourcing special materials, quoting, and running small quantity production orders when needed. This position requires an individual to balance creativity with project coordination skills and maintain a very high-quality standard. An understanding and familiarity with all grades and flutes of corrugated and foam are an essential part of being successful in this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Initiating meetings with sales and internal team when questions or issues arise with complex
items or packs
Designs solutions that address needs of the customer or that create unique solutions that
provide competitive edge (reducing cost or solving business problems for customer)
Liaise with sales, production, vendors, appropriate managers, and customer where required
Generate CAD design
Complete accurate and timely quotations as required
Develop and Maintain Dockets, statistical data and filing system
Adhere to all Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions
Review and revise routing in specs on an on-going basis to support continuous improvement
Operate CAD Table in a safe and effective manner, to cut samples and on occasion to produce
small production orders
On occasion, receive files from external design house and operate equipment based on
information in the file. Follow up when necessary.
Modify or redesign based on customer feedback when required
Maintain a log of all samples produced and associated information.
Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications.
Ensure maintenance and preventative maintenance requirements are adhered to for CAD Table.
Report any potential mechanical problems to the maintenance department.
Responsible for computer terminal and all tools associated with the CAD Table.
Recommend measures to improve CAD Table methods and quality of product.
Manage and maintain sample sheet inventory.
Purchase and expedite steel rule dies and printing plates for new items with outside vendors. Design team to purchase or arrange to have all items available for an assembled pack, such as skids, corner post, and plastic bags. All the miscellaneous item that go along with a pack.
Work with Amtech and Workflow system

Work in an office setting under Design Department
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical/machine parts. The noise level in the work environment is relatively quiet compared to a normal corrugated sheet plant

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and carry corrugated sheets up to a maximum size of 100” X 200 “and a maximum weight of 50 lbs. The employee must be able to follow the “Safe Lifting” policy, which is posted in the plant. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance visions, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Fast paced environment, working and adjusting to tight deadlines and flexible work schedules
Minimum – High school diploma, Post-Secondary Design education would be a definite asset, and/or a corrugated/foam experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be familiar with all grades and flutes of corrugated and foam.
Proficient in using MS Office, ArtiosCAD, CAD Table using CIMPACK software, Adobe Acrobat Illustrator and Photshop
Able to collaborate with all stakeholders (internal and external) to manage design and processing requirements to achieve customer needs in a timely and effective manner
Able to co-ordinate multiple tasks and deadlines and achieve design and quote turnaround goals
Able to produce innovative design solutions that impact overall competitiveness
Proactive, timely and effective communication with all stakeholders Meet and/or exceed
