Job Title: Construction Quality Control TechnologistReporting to the Geotechnical Operations Support team, the Construction Quality Control (QC) Technologist will perform safe, compliant, and effective construction monitoring of various mining earth structures including external tailings dykes, in-pit tailings dykes, and waste dumps. Key Responsibilities:Maintain effective communication with stakeholders including Mine Operations, Geotechnical Engineering, and Mine EngineeringImplement Issued for Construction (IFC) Drawings, Quality Management System, and Safe Operating ProceduresComplete daily visual inspections of material borrow sources and mining earth structures to support construction activitiesEnsure all aspects of the design specifications are met for mining earth structuresPerform in situ soil density testing with a nuclear densometer as per IFC drawingsDocument construction activities, in situ test results, and non-conformances in construction databasePerform material sampling and ensure proper chain of custody for laboratory test samplesCompile daily construction reports and upload at the end of each shift in construction databaseAssist in preparation of monthly construction performance reports and review documents along with construction data Skills & Qualifications:A technical diploma in a field related to mining (Civil Technologist, Geological Technologist, Geomatics Technologist, or a Mining Technologist)Able to receive accreditation with ASET as a C.E.T. or C.Tech. or T.T.The position is a safety sensitive position and it requires a pre-placement medical assessment of fitness for duty and test for alcohol abuse and specified drugsMust possess a valid class 5 Drivers' License with limited to no demeritsMust be proficient in off-road driving and pass a defensive driving courseMust be able to carry 50 lbs 100 m over rough terrain continuouslyHighly motivated individual with good team players and communication/networking skillsVisibly demonstrate personal and company HSSE commitment and drive towards technical excellenceCompany Fly-In/Fly-Out and Accommodations Program with charter flights from Calgary or Edmonton, or need to relocate to Fort McMurray to take advantage of Company bussingShift schedule is 7x7, 12 hours a day with alternating day and night sets (schedule may change as per discretion of Management)
