Helping the business achieve success and optimize the business’ spend of compensation dollars, the Compensation team provides advice and counsel, strategic insights and ongoing support across the Enterprise with regular interaction with partners in Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Personal & Commercial, Corporate Areas and Technology Operations. As a Compensation Relationship Manager you will: Act as a primary, trusted advisor to assigned banking group(s), providing counsel and ongoing support regarding non-executive employee compensation including internal/external competitiveness, program design, program effectiveness, and overall governance related to BMO’s compensation philosophy and principles, including competitive pay for competitive performance. Provide direct support to the Director/Managing Director (MD), Compensation for assigned Banking Group(s), which involves direct relationship management for a sub-set of an assigned business group. Respond to inquiries from HR Business Partners and, as needed, proactively identify and escalate to the Director/ MD, Compensation any issues identified that present risks or opportunities to the organization. Lead projects regarding the design and development of compensation programs for a sub-set of clients in assigned banking group(s). Partner with appropriate internal and external resources to ensure that all designed programs, plan documentation and communications meet the requirements, BMO’s overall strategic direction and complies with regulatory, tax, legal, accounting and operational frameworks for successful project completion. Effectively communicate data and/or modelling requirements to the Compensation Analysts and/or Consultant to ensure delivery of information necessary for effective program design. Maintain a current knowledge of business strategy and internal and external market compensation information. Use market and business knowledge to proactively asses the implications of trends on business groups and influence business leaders accordingly with respect to required changes. Develop and maintain effective internal relationships with partners across the organization and a working knowledge of total compensation programs and approaches across the enterprise, including executive programs, equity programs, benefits and pension.
