Chard Development Ltd. (“Chard”) is an award-winning real estate development firm based in British Columbia, specializing in urban real estate projects in Metro Vancouver and Greater Victoria. Since 2006, Chard has delivered close to 1,400 homes to the people of BC, including market and below-market purpose-built rental developments, attainable homeownership opportunities and market condos – with more than 3,000 more in the development and/or planning phase. The company has been awarded the Provincial Award for Excellence in Housing Affordability and recognized by the Urban Development Institute with awards for Best Purpose-Built Market Rental (High Rise) and Best Non-Market Housing. They were also the first to bring strata office and light industrial space to Mount Pleasant and have more than 265,000 sq ft of commercial development in the pipeline, along with two hotel developments.
Chard continues to diversify – both geographically and in terms of product offering – through strategic partnerships and out-of-the-box creativity, and to seek opportunities for vertical integration. In 2023, the company established Chard Property Group to provide property and asset management services to their growing portfolio of income producing properties. To date, three Chard properties have transitioned to CPG. Over the coming years, CPG will seek to provide management services to third-party property owners whose assets align with Chard’s strategic value-add approach and expertise.
An opportunity now exists for a talented human resources leader to build a dedicated People & Culture function in this high growth, innovative organization. Reporting to the President & CEO, the core mandate for the Director will be to develop and execute on a people and culture strategy that can support and facilitate the continued rapid growth of the business. This will include developing talent programs and strategies that support the recruitment, retention and development of high performing talent, the enhancement of a strong team-based culture, reevaluating the total rewards programs and continued standardization and implementation of HR policies and programs. Initially as an independent contributor, Chard is seeking a strategic leader capable of contributing to all areas of the business but who can also be resourceful, pragmatic, and comfortable playing a hands-on role in this 45+ person organization.
The ideal candidate will bring a track record of success as a hands-on people and culture leader with generalist experience having worked in a dynamic, team-oriented organization experiencing tremendous growth and change. Resilient, confident, entrepreneurial, low-ego and apolitical, the Director will bring very strong business acumen, have served as a trusted advisor and business partner to the executive team in the past and supported building an engaged culture across a diverse workforce.

The compensation range for this position is targeted between $150,000 to $180,000 plus bonus and benefits. The exact compensation range may vary depending on the candidate's skills and experience.
