General Information
The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications from prospective candidates to work as a Camp Leader at Cowichan Lake Recreation for summer 2024. This is a great opportunity for those seeking to gain experience in the recreation and childcare field. Our summer positions provide the opportunity for you to learn and be mentored by experienced staff, gain valuable coaching feedback/support throughout your employment and gain valuable training courses that can be utilized in our future careers. Under the supervision of the Recreation Programmer II, the Camp Leader plans weekly camps at the recreation centre. The Camp Leader provides direct leadership, instruction and supervision in a varied, comprehensive and inclusive program for children ages 6 – 12. There is an educational component to daily activities plus encouragement to become more active and promoting physical literacy and healthier lifestyles.
Qualifications
Hours of Work
This position is available for a period of 9 weeks commencing June 24, 2024 and continuing until August 23, 2024, subject to enrolment and funding. Hours of work are 35 to 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, subject to enrolment and funding.
Salary
This temporary position is non-union, and is compensated at $25.30 per hour (2024 rate), which is $21.59 per hour plus 6% pay in lieu of benefits, 6% pay in lieu of vacation and 5.2% pay in lieu of statutory holidays.
