Role Summary
The Consultant, Business Systems Analyst works with internal and external stakeholders including the technology and business teams to develop and implement data solutions tailored to a project’s requirements.
The nature of the projects varies from Waterfall to Agile and technology varies from legacy to cutting edge. They are involved throughout the project lifecycle by capturing and documenting requirements, test strategy/plans, test cases, execution of testing, sign off and implementation into production.
They are supported by team members and the Practice Manager.
This position does not have any direct reports.
Major areas of Responsibility
1. Delivery Excellence
+ Develop a deep, multilayered understanding of the business issues and the data challenges of the clients’ organizations and their industries.
+ Ensure requirements are clear and complete, eliminating uncertainties and ambiguities.
+ Establish the quality of solutions through validation against the requirements.
+ Demonstrate collegial teamwork internally and with clients, by communicating clearly with all project team members to identify and resolve issues for delivery success.
+ Escalate issues promptly when required.
+ Participate in the development of project plans to establish appropriate workload expectations and schedules.
+ Own the responsibility to meet deadlines and strive to complete work in accordance with project plans.
2. Innovation
+ Contribute to lessons learned and process improvements.
+ Apply new technologies to improve work efforts when available.
+ Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of, and adopt, relevant market trends and practices.
3. Drive and Own Requirements
+ Gather all requirements that are a part of the overall project.
+ Develop a requirement matrix and identify any gaps.
+ Create detailed, functional and non-functional requirements documents, review and obtain sign off from key stakeholders.
+ Provide ongoing updates and review throughout the project lifestyle.

Testing & Deployment
+ Create test strategy/plans.
+ Create and execute test cases.
+ Regression testing if required, defect management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other
1.
Detailed, practical working knowledge in:
+ SLDC methodologies, specifically Agile and Waterfall
+ SQL, Teradata, or Oracle
+ Databases, data warehouses, analytics and reporting
+ MS Office
2. General knowledge in:
+ MS Project
+ Analytics / Business Intelligence tools (MicroStrategy, Tableau.
Cognos, Looker)
+ Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) or Big Data (Hadoop, Hive, Impala)
3. Above average skills in:

Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Software or Computer Science/Engineering fields or related industry experience or acumen
+ Around 5-8 years’ experience on technical projects including 5 as a Business Systems Analyst
+ Experience in Data Warehousing, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Cloud Projects
+ ETL experience
+ Prior experience as a Data Analyst is an asset
