Job Summary: The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (WOCN) provides specialized nursing care, education, and consultation for patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems, as well as those with acute or chronic wounds or at risk for impaired skin integrity. This role functions across acute care and rehabilitation settings, serving as a clinical expert, educator, and patient advocate. The WOCN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement evidence-based plans of care aimed at optimizing patient outcomes and functional status. The WOCN may obtain additional certification as a Certified Foot Care Nurse (CFCN) to provide specialized foot and nail care services.
