ICFO is offering a research engineer position to a highly motivated student (MSc level) who wishes to gain experimental optics experience in a friendly and stimulating environment.

The project focuses on the development of experimental tools for the spin-dependent manipulation of fermionic strontium atoms, within platforms for quantum-gas microscopy and Rydberg atom array experiments.

Responsibilities

• Development of a narrow-linewidth laser system at 689 nm, including slave laser and injection-locking techniques.
• Adaptation of a laser system for cooling and trapping fermionic strontium.
• Implementation of optical methods for spin-dependent potentials.

Eligibility and Conditions

Background in optics, AMO, or experimental quantum physics is required, and experience with laser systems and strong motivation for experimental work and teamwork is an asset.
