Overview
SEN Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs) – Empowering Learning are working with a school in Chelmsford. The position is based within a small class supporting Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) students. The role involves working with children aged 4–16 years with statements of SEN. Many students have limited or no verbal communication and you will assist across the school rather than providing 1:1 support.
Responsibilities
- Support multiple classes and several children across the school, rather than working 1:1 with a single pupil.
- Help make learning participative and encourage peer learning.
- Support learners by using their own words, language, materials and personal context; clarify activity purpose and how it relates to skill needs.
- Break down tasks into smaller steps and incrementally build toward the task objective.
