To work closely within the eye casualty team to deliver a comprehensive telephone triage service to highest standards of quality and care and making autonomous decisions using clinical and diagnostic ophthalmic knowledge and experience.
To work within your level of competency and within eye hospital guidelines seeking advice from and senior colleagues, as required, for safe practice.
To utilise a range of IT systems to access phone line, multiple electronic patient records systems and record relevant findings and triage outcome management plans.
Liaise with community optometry colleagues, GPs, ophthalmologists and other professional groups, as needed, on a case-by-case basis.
To work efficiently to maximise the number of calls actioned each session.
To undertake administrative duties as agreed by Line Manager relevant to Telephone triage role.
