Description: The unit has 20 beds. Night shift consists of 1 charge nurse and 8-10 registered nurses, along with 1-3 nursing assistants and a PRN sitter. Patient ratios are variable based on acuity. Ratios include ECMO at 2:1, post open heart surgery at 1:1, critical ICU/devices at 1:1, typical ICU assignment at 1:2, and stepdown at 1:3-4. Key equipment includes IV pumps, telemetry monitors, Hoyer/stand lifts, Impella, IABP, CRRT (Nxstage), bladder scanner, Bair hugger, rapid transfuser, Blanketrol, chest tubes, vein finder, Sorin retransfuser post-cardiac surgery, ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP/CPAP.
