Cardiopulmonary disorders are life-challenging and as a respiratory therapist and a human being, your skillset determines arterial puncture or cannulation, artificial airway types and sizes, initial ventilatory settings for mechanical ventilation, ventilator changes based on established parameters and patient assignments to staff based on skills inventory. That’s no small task. 

There’s no feeling like the feeling of “I can’t breathe.” You wear your compassion on your sleeve every time you hear those words from a child suffering with asthma to an elderly patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It’s why you do what you do. And that’s what we love about you.
