Optometrist

The Ophthalmology department provides a range of services for patients of North Cumbria. We are looking for an Optometrist to join the team, working alongside Orthoptists, Ophthalmic Consultants and nursing teams. The post is based at Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle or West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven with travel to other sites required.
Main duties
- Provide autonomous optometric services – assess, diagnose and manage patients referred to orthoptic department.
- Determine clinical diagnosis, develop treatment and discharge plans and arrange appropriate onward referrals.
- Carry out low‑vision clinical work (training provided).
- Cover Cumberland Infirmary, West Cumberland Hospital, Workington Community Hospital and peripheral clinics.
- Liaise with other professionals and colleagues as appropriate.
