In 1964 Community Action Programs were included in the Economic Opportunity Act under President Lyndon B. Johnson's War on Poverty. Over 1,000 Community Action Agencies have been founded since then.
Incorporated in 1965, Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corporation (JFCAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to assisting low-income individuals, and families, achieve self-sufficiency through quality programs in Jefferson and Franklin Counties. We are a federal, state, and locally funded Community Action Agency.
