High school graduate or equivalent.
5 years directly related work experience.
Working knowledge of how heavy duty machinery, engines, hydraulic systems,
transmissions and other parts and systems work.
Ability to detect faulty items, determine cause of malfunction, and determine best repair
methods.
Ability to assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify components and systems.
Ability to read and interpret parts lists, manufacturers' and Government repair manuals,
diagrams, and electrical schematics.
Thorough understanding of the principles of operation and required repairs of all
components and sub-components including but not limited to the Suspension, Engine,
Transmission, Transfers, Differentials, wreckers, winches and sub-components.
Ability to utilize Technical Manuals, Lubrication Orders/Instructions, and Modification
Instructions to repair all rolling stock assets.
