Job Overview

This position works in the Water – Operations, Maintenance and Construction organizational unit. It is supervisory work involving the installation, maintenance and servicing of all municipal water systems in accordance with established standards and design specifications.

Responsibilities

• Assign, schedule, inspect, and may participate in the work of truck drivers, equipment operators, and utility operators engaged in installing and servicing 2” to 30” water lines.
• Connect newly installed water lines to existing mains; install meters and detector check valves.
• Install, relocate, raise, and repair fire hydrants; install fire lines to commercial and industrial facilities.
• Thaw frozen lines, as required.
• Check systems installed by contractors for workmanship and conformance with design specifications; measure precisely and identify the locations of all contractor‑installed systems.
