Summary This position is located in the Fire Department section of the Facilities Management Service. The purpose of this position is to provide twenty-four (24) hour fire suppression, protection. Position provides firefighting and driver operator, fire inspector and basic life support through EMT services to the VA Black Hills Health Care System (BHHCS). Responsibilities Major duties include but are not limited to: The Firefighter shall participate in all aspects of structural and wild land firefighting operations and rescue. The Firefighter participates in vehicle extrication, elevator and confined space rescue and is a hazardous materials first responder. On a rotating basis, serves as a driver of a wild land unit and structural driver operator. The Firefighter shall be certified as a fire inspector and participate in proactive fire inspection, fire alarm maintenance and prevention programs.
