Williams Lake is in BC’s Central Interior Region, otherwise known as the Cariboo Chilcotin Region, and is famous for the annual Williams Lake Stampede. There is a population of approximately 35,000 in Williams Lake and surrounding areas with a total population of 62,000 for the Cariboo Regional District. A vast array of lakes, rivers and hiking and biking trails makes Williams Lake and the surrounding area a great place for outdoor enthusiasts to camp, fish, hunt and play during the summer months, while winter months bring the enjoyment of snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding and ice fishing.
Cariboo Memorial is under renovation with planned completion in 2026. The redevelopment project includes an addition to the existing hospital as well as renovations to the existing facility. The addition will add 25 in‑patient beds for a total of 53, a new emergency department and a mental‑health unit.
