Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, majoring in Environmental, Biological, or Geological Sciences; must be a Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner in the state of Illinois; and requires two years of practical field experience.

• Assist with and makes routine inspections in environmental programs; prepares activity reports and records of inspections and investigations
• Selects, prepares, and submits samples of food and water for laboratory analysis, and performs simple field tests
• Confers with facility owners, operators, contractors and the public in basic sanitation problems and methods required for compliance with pertinent laws
