Consultant in Paediatric Critical Care

Closing date: 26 June 2026.

Based at Sheffield Children's Hospital, you will provide consultant cover to the Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU) and support Embrace, the regional paediatric critical care transport service.

Flexibility within the rota is required. A full day on the ICU is allocated 2.5 PA, while a day covering HDU is 2.25 PA. The 10 PA job plan is designed accordingly and includes an equal share of on‑call consultant cover for PCCU as well as support for colleagues during absences. For a part‑time contract a minimum commitment of 7 PA per week is required.

Main duties

Reporting into the Clinical Team Lead, your responsibilities will include:

• Provide consultant cover for the PCCU.
• Continuing responsibility for patients in your care and for the functioning of the PCCU.
• On‑call duties for PCCU.
• Cover colleagues during periods of absence.
