Become part of a strong and successful company that’s trusted by millions of Canadians to do the right thing. Be your best at Canada Life.We are looking for a Vice President, Global Modeling and StructuringGiven the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, or Winnipeg.Reporting to the Global Chief Investment Officer (CIO), the VP of Global Modeling and Structuring is accountable for the development of capital efficient investment solutions and portfolio optimization for various business functions. This includes working with global and regional Investment, Risk and Asset Liability Management teams on optimal portfolio construction in multi-asset, fixed income, LDI and other portfoliosWhat you will doDeliver insights to Global and Regional CIOs on portfolio optimization, strategic asset allocation and incorporation of alternative asset classes to drive capital efficient returnDeliver insights to regional business leaders, Risk and Asset Liability Management and provide a community of practice to support regional investment teams develop and implement their own portfolio modelling. Deliver the greatest expected return with respect to risk, capital, liquidity and other considerationsPropose and implement investment activities, including new asset classes that comply with Investment policies and align with Risk Appetite Framework, evaluate derivative strategies to improve Lifeco’ s risk/return profileWhere appropriate and possible, coordinates globally consistent practices, across the regions of Lifeco. Work with Regional Investment, ALM and Risk team for optimal collateral management, improve yield enhancement, lower transaction costs, hedge against interest rate and/or other market risksPartner with Risk and ALM to continue to evolve Global ALM governance, tools and processes, improve and expand global ALM reportingDetermine the level of liquidity required to meet net cash outflows over multiple time horizons to optimize excess liquidity in a business as usual market while increasing portfolio resiliencyLead work with Regional CIOs, Business Leaders, Capital Management, Tax, ALM and financial risk organizations to develop capital efficient structures. Validate and challenge the models employed under the capital requirement frameworkAssess non traditional investment strategies while meeting regulatory capital requirements. Explore investment vehicles to improve balance sheet management, enhance operating income or reduce portfolio risk profiles. Support the underwriting and review of large transactionsWork with Risk on continued stress testing and scenario analysis. Construct scenarios based macro-economic uncertainties and measure their potential impact to identify and adjust for downside risksCollaboratively develop a Lifeco tail hedging program working with Global CIO, Capital Management, Risk Management and ALM and analyse the use of options and/or other derivative strategiesMitigate losses and earnings volatility, particularly in periods of severe market stress, by adding downside portfolio protectionCollaborate with global investments organizations to create and implement clear, standardized and reliable reporting for Lifeco and Regional Boards and committeesProvide regulators with information that articulate investments strategies and controls and risks are managed.
