Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Innovation office is seeking qualified applicants for an experienced User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX) Designer to complement the existing team in achieving our mission over the long term. Responsibilities will include defining the design of application user interfaces and the user experience. This position requires identification, definition, design & documentation through storyboards, wireframes, simple prototypes, and development of service platforms. The ideal candidate will have sufficient creative skills and experience to independently produce potential designs. Many applications are technical, displaying complex technical data. The candidate will be responsible for presenting the UI/UX design work to the delivery team, and will recommend solutions to complex strategic objectives, across our large global team spanning Stantec IT, Business Lines, and the Office of Innovation.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, primary program groups, and business line project teams to develop top-tier interfaces and user experiences.

  • Work in partnership with available resources, communicating transparently and routinely, to gather input and request feedback.

  • Work with remote teams on the design and implementation of a variety of projects involving analytical dashboards and interfaces. The focus will be on user interface development, user experience, and interactive design.

  • Use diagramming and visualization tools to communicate the concept before software development. Produce storyboards, wireframes, and simple prototypes.

  • Help to develop design specifications and proof-of-concept solutions in response to business needs.

  • Undertake business analyst responsibilities, communicating with clients to understand needs and document them in written and graphic form.

  • Use color, fonts, and pictography to enhance the user experience.

  • Conduct rapid prototyping of new ideas and iterative design get the functionality in the hands of stakeholders for evaluation faster.

  • Take ownership of the project and work independently in a team environment.

  • Qualifications

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Extensive knowledge of UI mockups Wireframe and prototypes to clearly illustrate the web and mobile application function and look like and conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback.

  • Strong knowledge of modern interfaces and libraries including Adobe XD, Figma, UXPin, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular or React, etc.

  • Experience working with Vector and Scalar Graphics. Preferable to have experience with front-end development

  • Ability to illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps

  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualize processes and outcomes.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and cross-functional stakeholders simultaneously to drive outcomes within often tight deadlines or quick turnaround times.

  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and a strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate, in writing and verbally, with technical and non-technical cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate with project teams and engage in creative and critical thought.

  • A passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions, flexible to learn new technology skills to meet the business needs.

  • Possess a hard-working and positive approach to the work and be a well-organized, flexible, self-motivated critical thinker and multi-tasker.

  • Possess excellent time-management skills, a thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and available resources.

  • Works well in a team environment without direct supervision

  • An understanding of current best practices is highly desirable.

  • Experience in the engineering industry is preferred.

  • Experience with source control, Git, and Azure DevOps is preferred

  • Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Development, Engineering, Business, or related industry.

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience.

  • Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods.
