Northern Transformer manufactures power transformers of the highest quality through proven design, quality workmanship, and rapid response to our clients’ special needs. Transformers are either custom designed to meet a client’s unique needs, or built to CSA C88, ANSI C57, or IEC standards.
Position Title: Transformer Test Operator
Primary Function: Make appropriate electrical connections necessary to perform production tests of oil-type power transformers, including Turns Ratio, DC Resistance, Insulation Resistance, Power Factor, Loss Measurement, Impulse, Hi-Pot, PD tests, etc.
Background: Electrical College diploma or equivalent.
Ability to communicates in English (spoken, read/write).
Physical req’m: Climb ladders, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift minimal to heavy materials.
Complete repetitive tasks, with good hand-eye co-ordination.
Manual dexterity, work from heights and ability to stand for extended periods.
Skills: Perform work based on general manufacturing instructions.
Basic awareness of manufacturing environment and use of production tools.
Work independently with minimal technical direction and supervision.
Ability to read electrical schematics & drawings and understand 2D & 3D sketches.
General use of hand and power tools .
Role Requirements: General testing of power transformers & control cabinets, following documented operation instructions and schematics.
Complete work within expected periods of time.
Work safely, using all safety equipment supplied.
Communicate well with colleagues and supervisors.
Complete shop records accurately.
Follow all general company policies .
Forklift and/or overhead crane operation experience an asset.
Working Conditions: Working hours are from 7am – 4pm Mon-Thurs, 7am-12:30pm Fri.
Regular Saturday overtime will be necessary as per business requirements.
Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as well as the necessary training.
