Job OverviewQualifications

The Supplier Table Engineer (PVE) (Contract) is responsible for all aspects of supplier table and Supplier Table Inspectors. The Supplier Table Engineer (PVE) (Contract) reports directly to the Product Vehicle Engineer (PVE) and will build effective relationships with both Salaried and Hourly, Assembly Plant and Corporate teams. They will lead projects, validate product conformity on suspect material, proactively ensure components meet specifications, and improve outgoing quality that will exceed the customers’ expectations. This position will work closely with operators, Manufacturing, MLM, Engineering and Supplier Operations. With unquestioned integrity and strength of conviction, the STE responds to manufacturing quality issues on the floor, establishes immediate containment and works with suppliers to establish long term containment and corrective actions to ensure robust clean point. Through the usage of advanced problem solving and kaizen methodology, the STE supports all continuous quality improvement initiatives by working collaboratively within cross-functional manufacturing teams and facilitates consensus from the main stakeholders.

Responsibilities / Deliverables of the Supplier Table Engineer (PVE) (Contract) are:

  • Responsible for managing the assigned supplier table(s) and hourly inspector(s) in order to address Supplier Part Non-conformances found within the assembly plant / assembly process
  • If assigned to Off-Shift, the Supplier Table PVE will act as a lead for all Supplier Tables within the assembly plant and supervise all hourly inspectors
  • Lead and coach team Leaders and team members with the WCM 1st level analysis tools (5W1H & 4M1D)
  • Responsible for managing the assigned supplier table and hourly inspectors to utilize Supplier Table Inspectors to respond to material issues (Line Side Sorts, Establishing Clean Points, Rotate Inventory, etc.)
  • Coach and assist Supplier Table Inspectors with sorting and documentation of all supplier nonconformance issues with supplier table process
  • Manage and ensure all Supplier Table Tracking and Process documents are maintained
  • Assist Plant Supplier Operations and MLM through monitoring of GIMs for permanent corrective action and issue closure
  • Validate all nonconformance ticket’s (NCTS) for accuracy & full process requirements and escalation
  • Communicate with Plant Supplier Operation, Material Logistics Management (MLM), and participate in weekly dispute/Exemption/Aging NCTs meetings
  • Review GD & T, Gaging, part inspections, sorting processes, establishing clean points, etc.
  • Provide technical support between Engineering, Production, Plant Process Specialist (PPS), PSO, and investigate quality concerns internally, at suppliers and with warranty returned parts
  • Utilize proactive process to ensure parts online are to specification and without damage as well as perform proactive purges on critical components
  • Continued improvement of plant / vehicle / company-wide quality performance – with concentration to incoming material concerns
  • Displays effective communication skills( presentations, analysis, studies) to support meetings and audits at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
  • Supervision of Supplier Table Inspectors: Responsibility for direct supervision of the Supplier Table Inspectors (STI) at the assembly plant. Responsibilities include: Approval of hourly timecards (i.e. CATS)Issuing discipline when needed and responsible to disqualify employee where neededAdministers testing for critical skills to qualify for STI positionResponsibility for Training, Mentoring & Supervising STIEnforcement of Supplier Table documentation/process to ensure all documentation is completed properly for part non-conformances / ST ProcessResponsible for participating in posting, testing, filling positions, and training Supports QCM Staff in hiring process ( i.e. interviews) for salary and hourly positions

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited university (other Engineering degrees, in combination with relevant experience may be considered)
  • Leadership experience (supervisory/management/team leader/project management)
  • Demonstrated use of MS Office products & Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheet, & Slides)
  • Effective presentation/public speaking skills
  • Experience with problem solving tools
  • Able to demonstrate both coaching and teaching
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-motivated leader, directed, high energy, hands on individual with integrity
  • Ability to thrive in a high intensity environment while working on multiple projects
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree
  • Reactive Green Belt / Black Belt
  • Minimum FIVE (5) Years of experience within manufacturing plant
  • Problem Solving techniques and methods
  • Extensive experience with WCM tools and methodologies
  • Previous Manufacturing and/or Quality & Union experience
  • Supplier Operations or experience working directly at a Supplier to the Automotive Industry
