Human Services- Community Partnerships

Contract Duration – 13 Months 

The Role. ..The Supervisor of Community Development is responsible for the management, coordination and implementation of the Region of Peel Community Investments Program that provides funding investments to support a strong and sustainable Peel not-for-profit sector that meets the needs of residents and advances community impact.

What you will do:

  • Develops and manages the Region of Peel’s Community Investment Program and budget allocation of $6.9 million
  • Operates and manages a comprehensive Community Investment Framework that provides greater alignment to Human Services and Regional Strategic Plans with a focus on vulnerable/marginalized populations in Peel
  • Works collaboratively and in partnership with other Human Service Divisions, other Regional Departments and various Community Partners and Stakeholders
  • Lead a team of specialists to implement regional funding streams and support community partners and agencies in capacity building while leveraging opportunities to influence greater investment funding in the Peel not for profit sector.4
  • Support the planning and resourcing of various engagement activities on behalf of the Human Services department across the region (ie. Peel Funders Consortium)
  • Works alongside senior management staff within the Department and across departments to support the sharing of information, engagement process and departmental planning
  • Shares information with clients, communities and constituents about Regional programs and services in addition to the gathering of information, trends, issues, gaps and statistics for inclusion in the development of Human Service planning and program design
  •  Support the planning and development of a community investment plan which supports building partnerships across system tables to support and elevate the priorities of the Region in partnership with stakeholders 
  • Negotiation with key stakeholders and partners in program delivery and ensure positive stakeholder and partner relationships
  • Completes Project planning and execution to support program development
  • Conducts research to support the design, implementation and evaluation of programs from an evidence informed perspective with consideration of best practices and relevant literature
  • Develop coalitions, partnerships, or collaborative relationships with internal and external partners in order to achieve major program objectives.
  • Able to motivate and influence others in order to meet project, program or event objectives
  • Supervises the development of communications materials for project roll-outs
  • Develops requests for funding as required
  • Develops and participates in presentations to Regional Council and senior management
  • Measures, monitors and reports regularly on project and program status. Recommend project and program enhancements, costing, and efficiencies
  • Researches, develops and recommends measures to evaluate the success of Community Development initiatives
  •  What we require:

  • Degree or diploma in a social or community related discipline with at least 5 years of work related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Requires in depth working knowledge of Community Development principles and familiar with frameworks such as results based accountability and collective impact as methods to measure population level change
  • 3 years of supervisory experience, or experience directly related to the oversight of staff, volunteers, etc.
  • Extensive skills in negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building
  • Experience with project management, leadership, and coordinating community activities
  • Working knowledge of change management; training on ADKAR principles and the application of these is preferred
  • Ability to work at a high level with senior management staff from Police, Region, local municipalities, Boards of Education, Executive Directors etc
  • Demonstrate team leadership and participation skills, involving both government and community stakeholders
  • Well-developed communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to develop an evaluation framework inclusive of outcomes, strategies and indicators
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze data, making recommendations and improvement suggestions
