CANDIDATE PROFILE 

As a member of the Structural team, the Engineer-In-Training will be responsible for the structural analysis and structural design of components of buildings including high-rise and residential towers, parking facilities and recreations facilities. The role requires a goal oriented individual who is able to work independently with little supervision, and has the ability to focus and complete multiple tasks within specified time limits. Experience with concrete and steel is fundamental; experience with mass timber, masonry and/or concrete tilt-up construction is an additional asset.

The successful candidate is a self-motivated, fast learner with the desire to continually learn and grow. A commitment to providing exceptional client service and developing technical expertise to deliver practical, creative solutions is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze and design structural components of new buildings.
  • Ensure quality compliance for your portions of projects by maintain design/checking notes.
  • Construction review and documentation.
  • Work with the project team from conceptual and preliminary stages of design through to completion.
  • PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

  • Degree in civil engineering program from accredited university, completed with structural design and analysis electives.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-In-Training with APEGA.
  • Experience:

  • 0-5 years of experience in a structural engineering firm.
  • Knowledge of structural design in steel and concrete structures is preferred.
  • Skills:

  • Ability to conceptualize design with an understanding of constructability.
  • Strong attention to detail and produce error-free, high quality output.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge with structural software SAP, SAFE or ETABS is preferred
